Description

Games : Windows : Full Game : English
3D-action from the company id Software - game that became a
legend even before the release of the game at all times.
Science has a lot - even open the gates to the unknown.
The question remains: what awaits us on the other side?
And only one person knows the answer. Only he can stop the evil.
He is the boundary between Earth and Adom.Doom 3 - it is a work
of art in the horror genre. Fascinating story, the atmosphere,
from which the blood run cold, game schedule, at one time raised
the bar to a whole new level - it all Doom 3. The game, which will
not leave anyone indifferent. One of the worst weather and computer
games, which became law in the golden fund of interactive entertainment.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

this is the High-Definition version with significantly improved graphics and sound, and don't let the size fool you - this "little" package packs a total of 9 gigs, many of them are high-resolution textures and some of them have height maps (parallax)

Windows:
to play Doom III: run Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe
to play Resurrection of Evil: run doom3roehd.exe
note however that the Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe is dual-threaded while doom3roehd.exe is single-threaded
you can play ROE with: Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe +set fs_game d3xp
but there may be some visual corruption
doom3roehd.exe works without visual corruption

system requirements/recommendations:
this is highly demanding on hardware, with my GTX 580 I was getting around 30 fps on average, video memory usage was reaching 2800 MB on some levels
so be careful when running this on anything less.

but you can configure the advanced graphical effects by editing the file baseautoexec.cfg or d3xpautoexec.cfg for RoE, so for example you can disable soft shadows/HDR/Bloom/Ambient Occlusion, tweaking those graphical settings can also help work around rendering bugs, if you have them, I for example had problems with Ambient Occlusion so I had to set the AO method to 8

I advice you not to modify any game settings from the in-game menu, or any other settings from the console or the config files - everything was already properly configured and taken care of to guarantee maximum quality, it would only be necessary to modify the various settings if you want to LOWER the quality

Linux:
WARNING: Linux version was not sufficiently tested !
the Linux EXE MAY OVERWRITE THE CD KEY FILES
BACK THEM UP BEFORE RUNNING THE LINUX VERSION

WARNING 2: high-resolution textures may work in Linux
but advanced visual effects (parallax, HDR, Bloom, Soft shadows...), may not !

to play Doom III: ./doom3 (should work, but if it doesn't run ./doom.x86 instead
to play Resurrection of Evil: run ./doom3roe.sh

this pack includes the following mods applied (in that order):
Doom 3 HD
Doom 3 HD Update 2
Wulfen texture pack 2.0 by Wulfen
High-Res pipes by Tets (which also includes the panel fix and the parallax fix)
ROTWhelltex2048.pk4
ROTWhelltex-fix2048.pk4
High-Res pipes by Tets 1.0 (manually merged) (8 December 2012)
High detail snpanel
Sikkmod's Parallax Occlusion Mapping
E3 Alpha WAV Sounds
Perfected Doom 3's textures were unpacked without overwrite

How to enable widescreen support :

do note that game is already pre-configured to 16:9 aspect with 1920x1080 resolution

First, you need to find base folder within the game's main folder.

The full path would look like this:
..... Doom 3 base

In the base folder you need to find DoomConfig.cfg. Open the file with your basic text editor, like Notepad.

In this file you need to find and change the following lines:
seta r_customHeight "xxx" (replace "xxx" with the desired resolution height, for example "1080")

seta r_customWidth "xxx" (replace "xxx" the desired resolution width, for example "1920")

seta r_mode "x" (replace "x" with "-1")

seta r_aspectRatio "x" (if you have a 16: 9 monitor, replace "x" with "1"; if you have 16:10 or 15: 9 monitor, replace "x" with "2")

Save the file, and enjoy the game!

a note about Vertical Synchronization for NVIDIA users: the NVIDIA control panel VSYNC option in Windows only controls the vsync of DirectX and not OpenGL, to change the VSYNC setting for OpenGL applications for NVIDIA hardware use RivaTuner
note that VSYNC may be on by default for OpenGL applications when using NVIDIA hardware drivers on Windows, this is especially important for users with 60 hz monitors because the game will be limited to 30 FPS unless it is disabled !

a note about Anti-Aliasing: the game's Anti-Aliasing is sub-optimal with modern standards, it is highly recommended to enable Anti-Aliasing in the driver control panel such as MSAA, it is both faster and produces better results than the in-game setting

a note about anisotropic filtering on windows with NVIDIA, unfortunately the NVIDIA driver by default disables all anisotropy in it's profile for this game (no surprise there, they want to claim they can run this game), to override this limitation, you have to use nvidia inspector and change the setting in the game's profile

a note about multiplayer: it was not tested and probably would not work because the game's archives were heavily tampered with, this is not supported and could cause problems

an additional graphics improvement is available for OpenGL games, the project is called ReShade, it requires OpenGL 4.3 support from the video card driver (unfortunately this support does not exist for ATI card users on windows 5)

update 4 is a bugfix release, fixes the self-deleting bug of Resurrection of Evil, in addition I included a few command files to help you with your EXE choice, the PAR2 files are there to help in case there is some error with the up/down load

Linux users: I regret to inform you that as far as I know there is no crack for this version of the game for the Linux platform, so to play this you MUST have a legitimate CD-KEY for both the game and the addon pack Resurrection of Evil

a windows performance update:

after a few sessions of timedemo testing and some personal experiments I found out a few interresting facts:

1. if you are GPU limited - DOOM3.EXE is faster than Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe by 1 FPS at 30 FPS (that's 3.33% additional performance) versus 29 FPS by Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe

2. on Intel processors with hyperthreading stuttering in main menu can be fixed by allocating Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe only to physical cores intead of letting it run on random cores/threads - that way there is no competition for resources between the 2 heavy threads - a CMD file is provided for this problem

3. it was revealed during timedemo testing that Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe is multi-threaded and not dual-threaded as was initially suspected

4. DOOM3.EXE is dual-threaded but does not utilize 2 cores at 100% like Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe does and running DOOM3.EXE on 2 physical cores instead of 2 virtual cores makes no effect on performance if you are GPU limited - it is still as fast as running on physical cores (relevant to users of Intel processors with HyperThreading)

based on these findings I recommend all GPU limited users to use DOOM3.EXE instead of Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe, and Intel processor users with HyperThreading - affinitize DOOM3.EXE to 2 threads on the same physical core as there is no performance reduction from doing so

a note to windows 2000/XP/2003 users: windows XP supports the boot.ini flag /INTAFFINITY which tells the kernel to take all interrupts on the last core of a multi-core system, this can increase performance if you make sure that you run DOOM3.EXE on cores other than the last

explanation of provided CMD scripts:
1. GPU limited users without multi(more than 2)-core CPU's (and users with not so fast video cards): just run Doom3.exe

2. CPU limited users with multiple CPU cores: for you there is a selection of CMD scripts:
* triple-core processors: run Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe directly
* quad-core processors: run Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe directly
* quad-core processors with Hyper-Threading: run QUAD-HT-CPU-limited.cmd
* hexa(6)-core processors (such as the 1100T): run Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe directly
* octa(8)-core processors (such as the AMD FX 8xxx series): run Doom3_reckless_parallax_fix_2.exe directly
* octa(8)-core processors with Hyper-Threading: run OCTA-HT-CPU-limited.cmd or QUAD-HT-CPU-limited.cmd - it shouldn't make any difference

3. GPU limited users with multi-core CPU's
* triple-core processors: run TRI-GPU-limited.cmd
* quad-core processors OR dual-core processors with Hyper-Threading: run QUAD-GPU-limited.cmd
* quad-core processors with Hyper-Threading OR octa-core processors (such as the AMD FX 8xxx series): run OCTA-GPU-limited.cmd
* hexa(6)-core processors (such as the 1100T): run HEXA-GPU-limited.cmd
